Visual Rhetoric

"Madonna and Child A.D. 1940" This cartoon is very gloomy. The black and white colors give the cartoon a very dark and depressing feeling. The cartoon is depicting the ugliness of war. The child's face tells you that he/she is very frightened. This cartoon is interesting because of the current state of the United States. How is this cartoon relevant to our current situation in the Middle East? What are your feelings on the cartoon?
